The Best Driving Resources When Your Instructor Can't Fit You In

· My Driving Journey in Melbourne

After saying goodbye to that last instructor, I went back to the second female instructor I'd tried before. She's Australian, and she gave me an assessment. Then, she was super blunt: "Your driving skill is bad, you might need a couple of months."

Honestly, hearing that made me crumble...

She explained that beginners shouldn't start with 90-minute lessons right away. It's much better to practice more often for shorter periods than one long session.

The problem is, she's really busy. I might have to wait a few weeks before she can schedule me for 2-3 lessons a week, each only 45 minutes long.

During this waiting period, I'm on my own. So, I started digging for resources everywhere. On YouTube, there are surprisingly few local Melbourne driving videos, and it's funny how most of them are by Indian instructors. They don't explain things in enough detail for me, though.

Luckily, I eventually stumbled upon two amazing channels. One is based in Sydney "The Driving Test Guy NSW", explains the rules super clearly. And the other in the UK Conquer Driving, who breaks down driving techniques in incredible detail. You could say these two are my "perfectly complementary coaches," and combined with my new female instructor, I feel like I've finally found my direction again.

I also dove into the Victorian Road Rules and the Road Test Scoring Criteria since I didn't find a "perfect" Youtuber or Blogger that helps me. I realized how little I actually knew before; it felt like I hadn't learned anything useful until now!
